The ankle band is attached by means of a velcro strip which goes over your sock (not directly against the skin). Attaching hooks are attached to the laceholes in your shoe, then a piece of latex rubber is fastened in the D-ring and hooked into the attaching hooks.
The effectiveness of the Dictus band is determined by the distance between the ankle band attachment and the attachments in the shoe (the lace holes). |

Background
My name is Anders Johansson and I'd like to start by telling you about myself and my handicap.
I was involved in an accident at the age of 11 causing a unilateral paralysis which among other things put my left foot out of function due to a plantarflexion.
After the accident, I tried many kinds of ankle support and foot braces. Many of them caused discomfort.
This caused me to think about the problem for many years, until I finally developed my own orthopaedic aid (the Dictus Band) which I myself have used daily since 1996. It has been comfortable, dependable and all around performed well.
I demonstrated the Dictus Band for Glenn Hellström, who in turn demonstrated it for Lennart Hovelius, a leading orthopaedic physician at Gävle Hospital in Sweden.
Dr. Hovelius found that the Dictus Band was superior to other orthopaedic devices of it's kind and could easily replace them. Upon these discoveries Ghotex fysioterapi AB launched production of the Dictus Band.
People suffering from stroke, polio, whiplash, rheumatism etc. can benefit from the device. It reduces the load on the leg, makes it easier to walk more naturally and with enhanced security.
The Dictus band have been demonstrated...
- on the Swedish TV-show "Livslust", SVT2 01/25/99.
- in the Swedish magazine "Sjukgymnasten", #12 1998.
- in the "British Polio Magazine Fellowship Bulletin", #3 May 1999
Here you can see a video about how the Dictus-band is working.
The only difference between the two films are the resolution.
Here are the program needed for showing the video.
